This Fourth of July was the closest to home we have been in several years. Last year, we spent the holiday in the Outer Banks, NC and the year before we were in Mackinac City, MI.
Being close to home meant the chance to spend the weekend with our friends. This particular group (and more who weren’t able to join us this time), consists of adults who have known at least some of others in the group the majority of our lives. The kids are growing up with a circle of friends they can rely on too. It sure does take a village!
The kids aren’t the only ones who get to have all the fun. The moms experimented with new recipes for food and beverages and a quick trip to Patoka Lake Winery.
The guys didn’t want to miss out either so they brought the goofy out. I think the picture below might have been Jason from Fox Family Camping sharing his vision for a tattoo the shape of Indiana while Nick sported a hat from a kids’ game!

In the same way that ice cream is a must, so are group photos. Just look at this fabulous crew! We are blessed to have these friends who are much more like family.
You’ll notice we camp with many of the same families on our trips. This has helped minimize our exposure during COVID, even when social distancing isn’t always possible.
